When you try to log on to your account using a web browser, you may occasionally be asked to authenticate manually using the PingID mobile app. You won't be asked to do this very often but be aware that authenticating manually is slightly different than the way you usually log on.
To authenticate manually, you'll need a device with PingID mobile app Version 1.8 or higher that is already paired with your account and has been used to successfully authenticate at least once. Additionally, the device must have a working camera with the PingID mobile app's camera permissions set to Approve.
You cannot log on to your account from a web browser that is located on the same device you're using to authenticate.
First, log in to your account, or access the application that requires authentication. If necessary, you'll see a notice telling you that you need to manually authenticate.
If you have more than one device paired with your account, you'll see a list of your devices. Please select the device you wish to use for authentication.
Now, click Next and you'll see a Manual Authentication message, displaying a QR code, requesting that you authenticate manually.
Next, on your mobile device, open the PingID mobile app.
Tap the settings gear icon in the top right of the screen and then select Manual Auth. Next, authenticate with your fingerprint, if required.
Now, the QR code scanner for manual authentication will open.
Use your mobile device to scan the QR code displayed on the Manual Authentication screen. You will then receive an authentication code.
Enter the authentication code into your web browser and click Sign on. You will then be successfully authenticated, and logged into your account.
